Handmade harps: photo shoot with Ozan in Bacalar, Mexico

7 January 2017

By the lake of Bacalar in Mexico I met Ozan, who builds his harps by hand. The aim of the shoot: to show him and his instruments as they are – authentic, natural and in the light of the place.

“Glorious is the voice of man and sweet the music of a harp.”

An instrument built with love

Every harp is unique. It was important to me to make visible the care with which Ozan works: the shapes of the wood, the strings in the backlight and the musician himself, completely at one with his instrument.

Photographed by the lake of Bacalar

With its clear turquoise water, the lake was the ideal backdrop. We fully immersed ourselves in the place.
